Focused Shockwave Therapy for Pseudarthrosis Treatment

Pseudarthrosis comes from the ancient Greek words, pseudes for false and arthros for joint. It refers to a bone fracture or osteotomy that fails to heal. For the past twenty years Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) has served as an additional non-invasive treatment option that stimulates bone metabolism.

The DUOLITH® SD1 »ultra« can be used effectively for the treatment of pseudarthrosis. Scientific studies have proved the efficacy of focused shock waves for this indication*.

The performance of this modern shockwave device is determined by the individually adjustable, dynamic and high-capacity energy range as well as by the selectable therapeutic focus depth. Deeper areas of up to 5 cm depth can be treated without any problem; the large focal zone makes it easier to reach and hit the pseudarthrosis gap with great precision.

Advantages of Shockwave therapy for pseudarthrosis:

  • Non invasive
  • Short treatment times
  • Minor side effects
