Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy

Magnetolith – Electromagnetic Transduction Therapy

Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy (EMTT) is a non-invasive, evidence based treatment for diseases of the .musculoskeletal system such as pain in the lower back, arthrosis as well as inflammation in tendons and joints.

New anti inflammatory .technology that has got .MSK specialists excited!

Magnetolith® is a brand new technology that opens up new treatment possibilities for diseases of the musculoskeletal system such as lower back pain, tendinopathies, rotator cuff and Achilles tendonitis and more. Medical CE marked.

Magnetolith Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy or EMTT® uses high energy magnetic fields for regeneration and rehabilitation at a cellular level. EMTT initiates an anti-inflammatory response, reducing pain and inflammation in affected areas of the body. Perfect for patients with acute pain presentation, irritable flare ups, neuropathic pain, diffused pain and degenerative pathologies such as Osteo Arthritis. EMTT® is highly tolerated, even with the most painful conditions such as rheumatic patients.

EMTT® Treatment biological effects

EMTT® treatment can cause positive biological effects. Every cell undergoes chemical reactions that drive metabolism. The prerequisite for this is membrane permeability. A stable cell membrane ensures permeability for vital substances. A pathological change leads to dysfunction that can ultimately lead to disease. The chemical reactions of the cell potential can be positively influenced by EMTT®. The sodium-potassium pump can be reactivated and physiological cell processes can be normalised.

  • Therapeutically effective magnet field
  • Normalisation of the membrane potential
  • Mechanical activation of the ion channels

During EMTT® painful areas of the body are treated with high-energy magnetic pulses, the effective field strength range is 10 mT (millitesla) and upward. With this pulse intensity, it is possible to achieve a therapeutic effect in the cells. The generated energy is transferred via an applicator to the body areas to be treated. The individual pulses penetrate the tissue so that even deeper tissue layers can be reached. There is no temperature increase in the tissue, due to the short duration of the individual pulses.

EMTT is a ‘touch free’ treatment

Thanks to excellent engineering of the articulated arm, EMTT® is a ‘touch-free’ treatment, perfectly suited for social distancing and minimal patient contact. The arm is easily positioned at any angle, patients can sit or lay down. Patients can remain in clothes throughout the treatment making it quick and easy.

Clinicians will not suffer from treatment fatigue as this is a hands-free treatment. The treatments are quick; a typical session lasts between 5 – 20 minutes depending on the indication.

Low cost to run and reliable

Magnetolith EMTT® does not require any special maintenance or technician to use and is low cost to run, providing your clinic maximum return on investment.

Reliable and long lasting equipment with water exchange needed only once every 6 months and applicator exchange every 2 years or 25 million pulses

EMTT® differs from general forms of electromagnetic field therapy or PEMF due to its high oscillation frequency of 100 – 300 kHz.

EMTT® is 40% stronger than PEMF and enables a higher penetration depth of 18 cm working at a cellular and nerve level rather than only addressing muscles. Sessions of EMTT® can, therefore, treat a far wider range of indications when compared to PEMF.

There are no reported side effects of EMTT®. However, it is a physical treatment so the patient may experience mild discomfort and reddening of the skin. This is very short-lived though and, when compared to the clinical relevant decrease of pain the treatment provides, is a very minor, worthwhile side effect.
Magnetolith EMTT® is the only approved electromagnetic therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases of the muscle, bone, joints, nerves, tendons and tissues. The effectiveness of electromagnetic transduction therapy in contributing to pain reduction for:

Degenerative joint diseases: Signs of wear and tear – e.g. arthrosis (a common cause of shoulder pain, knee, hip hands, elbow), herniated disc, spondylarthrosis

Pain therapy: Chronic pain – e.g. back pain, lumbalgia, tension, radiculopathies, heel pain

Sports injuries: Chronic inflammation of tendons and joints – eg. tendon overload syndrome, osteitis pubis

Patients may also be referred for EMTT treatment by the traumatology department as a follow up to surgery on injuries caused by violence or accidents.

By combining high energy sound waves ESWT on the local treatment area with EMTT ® magnetic fields on a regional treatment area, EMTT® supports the effectiveness of sessions of ESWT by:

  • Activating the metabolism
  • Revitalising the area
  • Further stimulated self-healing
  • Immediate therapeutic effect
  • Extends the therapeutic field
