Your Guide to Storz Focused Shockwave Machines

STORZ MEDICAL focused shockwave therapy machines have been used in orthopaedics and men’s sexual health for more than 30 years. The broad spectrum of indications that can be treated with focused shockwave machines means clinics can improve their healthcare services by using the most up to date, clinically proven technologies with hundreds of supporting clinical papers.

Due to the increased treatment options, treatment depth, precision and patient comfort (especially in more acute cases) focused shockwave therapy is now becoming as popular as radial shockwave treatments.

What is Focused .Shockwave Therapy?

The two types of shockwave therapy are focused and radial shockwave, learn more about the differences here.

Focused shockwaves have a higher energy density and faster impulse compared to radial devices. Focused shockwaves can target deeper tissues more precisely, delivering all of its energy within the tissue. Local painful spots, chronic insertional tendinopathies, bone stress injuries and deep trigger points are therefore best treated with focused shockwaves.

Penetration depth can be modified using stand-offs and can reach up to 12.5cm.

Which Focused Shockwave Machine is right for me?

Commonly the more experience with Shockwave ESWT, the more likely focused shockwave is adopted by a practitioner. A combination of both radial and focused if often used as the technologies compliment each other. That doesn’t mean you need to have experience with radial shockwave before adopting a focused device, far from it. Your choice of device is more to do with patient selection, the types of conditions you see on a day to day basis as well as your individual clinic’s budget.
