The icon introduces a patented dual-acceleration technology. Instead of a single forward-moving projectile, the system drives an equal counter-movement, producing perfectly balanced compression and decompression forces.
The result is an exceptionally stable, high-energy pulse with no loss of power or consistency, even at higher frequencies. Each shockwave maintains identical speed and intensity, ensuring optimal tissue stimulation and therapeutic precision. This bidirectional acceleration system is unique worldwide. Dual-Valve Precision System
The major engineering innovation of the icon is the dual-valve mechanism that precisely controls the projectile’s movement inside the guiding tube:
One valve governs the forward flight (impact phase).
The second controls the return phase (resetting the projectile).
This results in exceptional control of impact timing and energy delivery, creating a crisper, more defined shockwave often described as “high-definition” in feel.
This subsystem alone holds four separate patents, with 12 patents in total protecting the icon platform.
Clinicians report it feels “more precise, more powerful, and more controlled” than any previous radial device.
Fully Integrated Workstation & Interface
The icon introduces a fully integrated workstation concept with swivel drawers for tidy storage of transmitters and accessories. Also included is customisable ambient lighting that can be adjusted by mood or treatment type (even colour-coded for feedback – e.g. green for low energy, red for high energy).
A central display shows prominent treatment parameters and live status. A new treatment timer includes both an overall timer and a countdown that adjusts automatically based on pulses and frequency.
Indication library loads recommended presets for common pathologies and step by step breakdowns of treatments (energy, intensity, pulse count, VAS score, clinician notes). The UI highlights when non-recommended settings or transmitters are used.
Ergonomic Handpiece
The new handpiece has been developed through hundreds of hours of observations of how shockwave practitioners hold their handpieces of earlier devices. The new handpiece design reflects a shape that practitioners find easier to hold and control for maximum precision over full treatment sessions.
A major revision in button placement means control buttons are lowered for easier thumb access in “power grip” position. A new balanced centre of gravity and integrated shock-absorbing honeycomb material reduces vibration and hand stress during prolonged use, allowing for long treatment sessions (8+ hours) with minimal fatigue.
The new smart applicator design reduces gel the need to clean gel from small spaces and allows practitioners to change applicators faster than ever before, whilst also automatically recognising which applicator has been chosen.
An ergonomic redesign with balanced weight, reduced vibration, and quick-lock transmitter system.
Smart Applicators
New quick-lock transmitter mechanism allows transmitter changes within seconds enabling multi-modal therapy within a single session (e.g. fascia, tendon, and muscle treatments) without workflow interruption.
Each transmitter includes an RFID chip that automatically identifies and logs usage data. With this a practitioner gains
- Automatic treatment documentation
- Usage analytics (which transmitter, how often, for what indication)
- Individual preset recall in which default frequency and energy settings auto-load when a specific transmitter is attached.
This provides a foundation for future data-driven treatment optimisation and clinic-level analytics.
